London 1832 to 1969
Thomas De La Rue introduced letter-press printing to playing cards in 1831, with a patent being granted by King William IV in December of that year.

After its Bunhill Road factory was bombed in 1941, production was taken up by WADDINGTON in Leeds.
De La Rue and Waddington set up the Amalgamated Playing Card Company in 1963 as a 50-50 venture, with Waddington buying out De La Rues interest in 1969.
